Scheherazade – Marlee Labroo

tell me
the places you want to go
the things you want to see and
what you’re doing about it

tell me
the things you want to say
the games you like to play and if
you’re any good at them

you ask me, who is he
that he got so lucky
and i’m wondering still
maybe he just got lucky

tell me
what do you like to do
alone in your room when
nobody’s around you

tell me
the kind of girls that you like
are they different or are they alike
and what you did with them

i don’t care
the wind’s in my ears
my insomniac lover, do you dare
do you dare

tell me
the way things should be
do you like mythology or should i
stick to what’s real

tell me
the risks you like to take
the rules you like to break
and the reason you do it

cause i’d rather have
a thousand stories
than one sleeping beauty
alone in her castle

scheherazade
tell me your secrets
i like that your reach
extends beyond your grasp

i like that her smile is wider than her face
i like that her smile is wider than her face
i like that her smile is wider than her face
i like that her smile is wider than her face

Prelude – Alexander Scriabin, arr. Trevor Moore & Piano Dave

Composition by Alexander Scriabin

Electronic arrangement by Trevor D Moore https://soundcloud.com/trevor-dalton-moore/

Piano performance and music video by Piano Dave
pianodave.bandcamp.com

We’re doing something new with this release by giving old music an audio-visual makeover.

The music of classical 19th-20th century composer, Alexander Scriabin, was composed with color schemes in mind – the composer was a synesthete – in his case, he associated various colors with musical keys and modes.

Now, this Prelude is in the key of G major – while Scriabin associated this key with the color orange, we also had blue and purple in our minds. Throughout the video, the colors slowly fade through a variety of shades and hues – see if you can notice, it is very subtle!

What color schemes do you pick up on here?

What other colors do the music evoke in your mind?

Our Voices

This album was compiled from the local music of Champaign-Urbana. All proceeds go to Girls Rock! – CU. It is meant to be a musically diverse and
inclusive compilation that promotes female empowerment in the CU music scene.

As a female musician it becomes so apparent how male-heavy the scene is. It’s crucial to support and give all our ladies involved in local music on every level a chance to share their story to spread love and empowerment!” ~ Maddy Marsan / Local Musician, Marketing Director Fourth Street Records

Nocturnes – Maddy Marsan

Release Date : October 7, 2016
Catalog ref. : FSR001

Nocturnes resembles insomnia, identity and togetherness through counterpoint and melodious double reed lines.
Maddy Marsan is a singer-songwriter and oboist working to meld the two components with love, harmonies and the help of many talented and dear friends. The oboe plays a big interchangeable role – sometimes a second set of vocal chords, and other times an ambient glue to piece everything together.
